Happy Birthday Keeper of Pages!

Well, would you look at that, it’s the 18th August aka my first blogiversay! I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for a year already! I really enjoy blogging, reading and reviewing books with the occasional bookish rambling. I have enjoyed watching my blog grow over the last year and I hope you have too. I’ve met some amazing people in this community and bought tonnes of new books because of you guys.

Now, I’m pretty sure it’s customary to look back over the last year, showcasing some of my most popular posts, my favourite post etc etc but those that know me well, know how much I love to procrastinate, so I’m far too lazy to do that!

So, how am I going to mark this monumental occasion instead, with something I think you would like a lot more – not just one giveaway, but two! Now, these are not rafflecopter giveaways, you gotta work for your books here, my friend!

This first giveaway is inspired by a bookish rambling post I was going to do until I realised, I wouldn’t have enough content to write the actual post haha! I joined Netgalley a year ago when I started my blog and have developed quite a trigger finger since, so I thought I’d do this great post called something like Netgalley Says No and detail the books that I requested and was denied for but alas, I appear to have good Netgalley luck. To date, I have only been denied three books on Netgalley:

So, to celebrate Keeper of Pages turning one, I decided to treat myself to one of the above books. That leads me to my first giveaway:

How to enter:

Leave a comment on this post guessing which one of the three books I bought/pre-ordered. It’s as simple as that! A winner will be picked at random from all those who guess correctly. Oh.. and you must be following my blog of course, I’ll be checking.

What’s the prize you ask?

Well, a copy of that book is the answer! The only rule is – Book Depository must ship to your country and you must be willing to provide me with your address so I can send you fan mail the book.

***

Now, if you’ve been lucky enough to have a copy of the books above, or they don’t really interest you, don’t fret, that’s what giveaway number two is for:

How to enter:

Have I posted a review that’s made you want to read a book? I frigging hope so or what the hell have I been doing all year! All you have to do is leave me a comment stating a book you’d like to read based on my review of it, ensuring to mention what it is about my review that made you want to read the book (e.g., it’s not something you’d normally read and would like to try it, or you love fast paced thrill rides etc etc). I have a Book Reviews tab at the top of my blog that will really help you out with this one. Oh.. and you must be following my blog of course, I’ll be checking.

What’s the prize you ask?

Well, a copy of the book you want to read is the answer! The only rule is – Book Depository must ship to your country and you must be willing to provide me with your address so I can send you fan mail the book.

This giveaway is now closed! The winners have been notified.

Good Luck!! And thank you for supporting Keeper of Pages!

  1. Happy blogiversary Janel.
I guess the book you picked is The Choice.
You have inspired me to buy so many books, I’d struggle to pick a favourite! One of my faves recently was your teaser photos of #APatientFury
I know how good that book is and felt I could share in your excitement for the tour! 😘💖📚

  2. Happy blogiversary!! You have made me want to read a lot of books and I have added several of them to my TBR but if I had to choose one I would go with The Marsh Kings Daughter. Also I think you preordered The Choice.

  3. Happy blogiversary! I can’t believe you’ve only been declined for 3?! My numbers at about 30 lol – I might nick your Netgalley Says No idea (and credit you) if that’s ok? As I have plenty to pick from!
I reckon your ordered Unravelling Oliver! 😀

And yes, do use the Netgalley Says No idea, let it live on through you!!
Good luck in the giveaway 😊

    1. Awh thanks Sam, you know you’re one of my favourite bookish people! I think I get approved so much because I’m not that far from the publishers offices and they’re worried I might turn up demanding to know why I was refused 😂😂
And right back at you, I’ve read loads of books because of you, namely, The Scandal aka Beartown, The Devil Crept In and Dark Matter!
And good luck in the giveaway!xx

  6. Happy Blogiversary .. I’m amazed it’s only one year I seem to have been following you for ever lol
We have read a lot of the same books but if I have to pick one review it has to be Sweetpea by C. J. Skuse .. you got me at the black humour 🙂
Here’s to many more years! Ali x

    1. Thank you! Everyone seems surprised it’s only been a year – I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing haha. It doesn’t feel like a year to me at all lol.
Good luck in the giveaway- Sweetpea is an excellent pick!

  7. Happy blog birthday!! Congratulations! I’m guessing Unravelling Oliver – this is one of my top reads!! I’ve not heard of The Choice though so would be thrilled to win a copy of that! Such a generous giveaway and such a fun fun idea!! Happy celebrating! Xx

  8. Happy blogiversary Janel ! I can’t believe it’s only been a year.. I was sure you were blogging longer than me! I love reading your reviews and hearing your honest opinions and I wish for many more to come! So cool the way you organised these giveaways! I’m guessing you pre-ordered The Choice! Seems like a fab book ;-). For giveaway 2 I’ve been looking at and re-reading so many reviews but it’s so hard to pick another book.. I finally settled for Ice Cold Alice by CP Wilson because you seemed to like it so much and it’s one of the more detailed and harder books :-).

  10. Happy Blogiversary Janel! And many, many more!
Your blog was one of the first blogs I followed when I started blogging. xx
Only three times, that is fantastic- my guess Unraveling Oliver.
I really want to read the Detective Kay Hunter Series! So I’m going to say Will to Live. I know it’s book two, but no worries, like you I will be starting at the beginning!!

Gosh most of your reviews inspire me to want to read the books, but currently it’s The Scandal and The Fourth Monkey that are topping my list!!
I think you ordered The Choice!

  12. Happy blogiversary! I can’t believe it’s only been a year – I feel like I’ve “known” you forever! I love your book reviews, and as we have similar tastes, I’ve picked up many books as a result of your blog – in fact, I was looking through your reviewed books list and was thinking “got that, and that one, and that, and…”. Pretty sure you’re at least partly to blame for the state of my TBR! :p
I think that the book you bought / pre-ordered is Unravelling Oliver, and a book I’d like to read as a result of your review (that I’ve not bought for myself yet!) is The Devil Crept In. I love a good horror story, but there’s so much in the genre that is rubbish. I love that this is “creeptastic”, and as you enjoyed it, I’m sure I will too!

    1. Thanks Jo, I feel honoured to be a major contributor to your tbr! And you’ve added to mine too, so fair is fair 😉 lol!
Good luck in the giveaways, The Devil Crept is definitely a good one in the horror genre, I’ve got another of Ahlborn’s books to read as I loved that one so much – good choice! 🙂

  13. Happy blogiversary Janel! Congratulations! You know I adore your blog, you were one of the first people I interacted with on here, so it’s wonderful to see how much your blog has grown in a year! Anyways, as you know, I loved your review of Backman’s Beartown, especially since it’s not the kind of book I usually see on your blog. I wanted to read Backman’s books for a while, and your review really pushed me to look into his books and it made me really excited to read them! So Beartown is the one I would love to read. Congrats again!

  14. Happy anniversary to one of my fave blogs ❤ I just read your review of The Scandal and I'd love to read it! Basically you said smalltowns and friendship…and there's a shocking scandal 😛

  15. Happy blogiversary! You are one of my favourite people to mock, I mean, laugh at, erm follow because you have excellent taste in books!

There are so many I’ve added to my goodreads TBR shelf because of you but the most recent one is Beartown/The Scandal. I wasn’t sure because of the hockey thing but you said it’s special and that’s good enough for me!
